360K FLOPPY DRIVE SYSTEM
Although NOT recomended TOTAL HAM will run on a 360K floppy system.
The two dynamic files LOG.DAT & QSLMAN.DAT & .IDX'S will increase in size as
entries are added. The others are of fixed size. Log entries will increase
LOG.DAT by approximately 200 bytes (LOG.IDX by 24 bytes). QSL manager entries
will increase QSLMAN.DAT by approximately 65 bytes (QSLMAN.IDX by 24 bytes).
The combination of these will determine the number of entries the program
will handle. Log only should hold approximately 1400 entries.
Since this program is very disk intensive, speed suffers dramatically.
360K FLOPPY SYSTEM SET UP
UNARC TOTLHAMU.ARC FIRST:
1 - Make a bootable disk & have two (2) blank disks ready.
2 - Place bootable disk in drive b:
3 - Run 360k-1.bat
4 - Place blank disk in drive b:
5 - Run 360k-2.bat
4 - Make this disk DATA DISK B.
5 - Make other blank disk DATA DISK A.
6 - Move LOG.DAT & LOG.IDX to DATA DISK A.
7 - Place your get clock(time) program on bootable disk & set up the
appropriate AUTOEXEC.BAT file to read it.
The BOOT DISK (A DRIVE) should have:
Normal system files
TOTLHAMx.EXE
CONFIG.SYS - files need to be 20
TOTLHAMx.DOC
FLOPPY.DOC
REGISTER.DOC
UPGRADE.*
The DATA DISK A (A DRIVE) should have:
LOG.DAT
LOG.IDX
The DATA DISK B (B DRIVE) should have:
BEAM.DAT
BEAM.IDX
COUNTRY.DAT
COUNTRY.IDX
QSL.DAT
QSL.IDX
STATE.DAT
STATE.IDX
TOTAL HAM will prompt you to change the boot disk with DATA DISK A at the
proper time. This change will allow maximum space for you log. Other
support files will be on B drive.
